After looking around online for places to purchase Marquette wines while visiting California, it turned out that, while preferred wines from Wisconsin and Michigan weren't a possibility to get shipped, there _was_ a store (The Wine House) in Los Angeles who had a Vermont Marquette wine in stock, so it wasn't especially out of the way when flying into LAX.

And April was looking around for these options because of having had a good experience with the previous Marquette wine she had tried in the past. So this is a grape that April seeks out, whenever possible.

When at the store, April was directed to people in the store who, after being shown the printout from their website, led her to the wine.

Tasting Notes April - A bit of a funky smell, but maybe about what I think a zinfandel smells like.

When tasting, I got alcohol shivers as an immediate thing, so first impression wasn't great, but the flavor is interesting. Has a variety of interesting flavors, and is fruity and spicy.

Bit of an aftertaste, but not overly bitter, so was fairly pleasant.

Not sure if I like it, but it's not watery, and not overpowering in the ways I tend not to like for wines. Not sure if the wine grape will remain a favorite, but I do think I'll continue looking to purchase the varietal whenever the opportunity presents itself.

-I tried this again a day later, which normally ends up in me describing wines as vinegary and immediately dumping things out.

But this... It has the funky, slightly spicy flavor, but also lots of fruitiness and roundness to everything. Not overwhelming, no lingering awful bitterness, and generally quite good, and quite interesting. Definitely would like more of this varietal.
