Purchased this at Ulrik-P while on the island of Rømø in Denmark. This is one in the set of three Fanø-sourced rums (Havmanden Skibsrom - Fanø Spirits, Kaptajnen Skibsrom - Fanø Spirits, Havfruen Skibsrom - Fanø Spirits).

The store had a variety of interesting things; not just alcohol, but April ended up getting this because of it seeming local (even though she didn't visit Fanø, though it was somewhat nearby), and rum is always helpful to have around for putting into pie dough.

Tasting notes:

April - Smell was also medicinal (as with the Havmanden), though perhaps a bit sweeter. It also gave me alcohol shivers, but had a bit more sweetness and interesting flavor, I think. I liked it more than the Havmanden, but still not enough to say that I liked it.

Jeanette - Geruch: Rumaroma mit einem Hauch von rauchigem Holzfass. Ein warmer, angenehm runder Geruch.

Geschmack: zu Beginn im vorderen Bereich des Mundes süßlich, dann sehr stark nach Alkohol. Das Brennen lässt schell nach und dann entfaltet sich im Abgang ein vollmundiges Aroma nach holzigem Karamell, Vanille und Sahne.

Ich finde ihn ganz ordentlich - vielleicht ein bisschen scharf aber das vergeht ja schnell.

(translated) Aroma: Rum notes with a hint of smoky oak. A warm, pleasantly rounded aroma.

Taste: Sweet at first on the front of the palate, then very strong alcohol notes. The burn subsides quickly, and the finish reveals a full-bodied flavor of woody caramel, vanilla, and cream.

I think it’s pretty decent—maybe a bit sharp, but that goes away quickly.
