2022 for year purchased is more of a guess. Judging from the dust on the bottle, it's been around for a while. Mederaño is listed on the label, but it might just be that "Mederaño Tinto" is the name of the wine, rather than the grape variety. But it's not really obvious, at this point, so assuming it's the varietal, at this point.
Tasted in 2025. Bottle was even dustier.
Tasting notes: April - A dark brown color, showing a decent amount of age. Taste was a bit sour, and fairly mild for the bitterness aspects of it. I thought it was quite good, and would happily drink something like it again. I do wonder how much I would have liked it had I opened it 3+ years ago. I'm guessing this one really did improve due to time and whatever abuse I put it through.
Jeanette - From the smell I would say it's a little bit woody or smoky. And also a little bit like metal. Or even blood. The iron. But the smell is not unpleasant. From the taste, it is really astringent, but in a pleasant way. I like it. It's surprising. Besides the fact it couldn't be store it like one should store a red wine, it is not bad. There is a big body. And it's sour, but also sweet. And there's a very long aftertaste with a typical red wine taste.
