2013 Syrah, Lytton Estate, bottled 11/15
2013 Syrah, Lytton Estate, bottled 11/15
A warm January with little rain started the season early. Water-stress reduced yields, yet produced grapes of amazing quality. Syrah and viognier co-fermented for five days. We selected two older vineyard parcels for their intensity, and a young parcel for its appealing fruit. After two years in barrel, the wine is wonderfully layeared and rich. It will be enjoyable over the next seven to eight years.

RidgeSyrah2013Front.jpg

Purchased while on a wine tasting trip to the mountain that Ridge is on, though the grapes are from Sonoma. See the Ridge Google doc for pictures and tasting notes in general.

On this particular wine, the notes say, "2nd - 2013 syrah - fairly well liked, kind of puckery. Megan said it smelled like fruit and was really good"

Alcohol - 14.3% by volume

94% Syrah, 6% Viognier

To quote the bottle:
